Welcome to Hypnotica Quest! You find yourself in a strange little sleepy town that is obsessed with hypnosis. Your curiosity gets the better of you and you sign up for an experiment at the laboratory at the end of the street.

This is a little walking simulator game where you get to experience actual hypnosis, giant rats, magical guinea pigs and meet the famous (or rather) infamous Doctor Voldritch.

If there's glitches, feel free to send me screenshots. Thanks!

finally got the time to play this last night and it was pretty fun :3

i like the atmosphere and the music is pretty nice,  but at least for me the hypnotism this time wasn't as effective as it was in mezma's revenge or dr. voldritch's experiment, but it still left me feeling relaxed so i'm happy! i'd say the main issue with it was just the visuals being a lot more subdued, specifically the spiral, so it was easier for someone like me to get distracted with other parts of the screen and dr. voldritch's big square nose which i love dearly (i chose to do the induction in the alien world, though i'm not sure if there would've been a different one if you chose not to do it there)

i also really like the voices given to each character when you talk to them, they're very silly, especially with the slight bitcrunch they have, and especially when you make one voice stack over itself if you interact with the character fast enough

the 3 biggest glitches i noticed were how when walking through a door (i only ever noticed this with doors facing north and south), if you walked into the door for a second and then interact with it, you would warp to either the top or the bottom of the collision on the next screen (starting from the origin or center of the map). then also when walking parallel to collision, if you begin walk diagonally into it, your movement gets canceled overall, whereas in other games, walking diagonally into collision would just cancel the vector moving perpendicular to the wall, and keeping the other vector unaffected. and finally, this being way more common in top down rpgs than the other two, is that when moving in the four cardinal directions, you move 1 unit n per frame, but moving diagonally doesn't move you the same distance of 1n, and instead moves you the square root of 2n per frame. this way of movement i do like because i like going fast, but the diagonal walking into collision glitch conflicts with that, so for me, it does make movement around the overworld sort of a pain but it wasn't that big of a deal

i do like this game still! and i'd love to see more of the top down rpg system in these as i think it can work great when mixed with the actual hypnotism :3

also right after the game i challenged myself to write a song while still under the effects of the hypnotism and it actually worked really well, i finished the song just under two hours later and it's one of my favorite songs i've written so far so thank you bloof

Thanks for letting me know! Yeah I wanted to tone down the visuals to be more meditation based since my last games have been meditation based. My friend who coded the visual novels agree the movement needed to change, so next time I work with Gamemaker, will fix that. I've only used it for about a year so it's still new to me. Were the places where the game hard locked or was it just glitches involving walking/collisions?

I'd love to hear the music!

oh i haven't played the other meditation ones yet! i'll be sure to soon! and i never ran into any softlocks involving the door warps, but i'll test some more!

here's the song too!

My rat is sitting on my shoulder and freaking out haha. It's good! And mostly that's good there's no soft/hardlocks lol

hi! I can't get past this point for some reason no matter what location I pick. not sure what I am going wrong

There's a secret door. It's at the top of the screen.

ty! I don't know why I didn't consider it. I love your games so much - I was sad to get stuck like this

There's a few puzzles in some of my games with a hidden door lol don't worry about it

I love this game and your webtoon! (I read the entire thing during my classes and would love more chapters!) great work on this! 👍

Aw thank you!! I make the comic slowly so best check out my tumblr for newer(ish) updates.... I use webtoons as an archive lol

You should put some kinda indication that you need  to press the space bar to start,,,

This looks so cool tho!!! Can't wait to start playing

Yeah it’s in the description!

I'm trying to get the game to work, but so far, I'm stuck on the Start screen.
The start button is greyed out and won't let me click it. Same with Quit.

Did you press space?

It does work! Thank you. I had tried mouse and enter, then had started mushing through my keyboard. Must have somehow missed it, or my keyboard just hated what I was doing. Looking forward to playing!

I see! I was really excited, my partner and I are big fans.
Just played and the art is very cute! I love pixel art and you have such a nice style, especially with the colors. Once we saw the keyboard things, it was smooth sailing. Relaxing as always. Perfect before bed game. Thank you for another lovely game!

Aw that's great!! Thank you so much!
